Blair Drummond Safari Park is the only safari park in Scotland. It offers many attractions in addition to the safari experience.
First and foremost on most visitors’ agenda when they visit Blair Drummond will be to drive through the various animal reserves. There is a wide range of exotic animals to see, including bears, bison, giraffes, lions, tigers, and rhinos. There are also penguins and birds of prey.
For safety reasons convertible cars and pickup truck type vehicles are not allowed to drive through the animal enclosures. Visitors who arrive in such vehicles and those who travel to the park by public transport can still take part in the safari experience as they can ride on the free safari bus. This bus is only available for those visitors without suitable cars and those who arrive by public transport.
For eating there is a designated barbecue area and numerous picnic areas. For those wishing to have a more formal meal there is also a restaurant with bar facilities. In addition to these there are two snack bars serving light refreshments.
As well as the animal enclosures there are lots of other activities available. The children will love the boat trip around Chimp Island and the whole family will enjoy the sea lion show. There is also a chance to see more familiar animals in the park’s Pets Farm and Lemur Land.
The park is set in 120 acres and includes bird of prey displays, an astra-glide, an adventure playground and a lake with 5-seater pedal boats, all included in the admission price. There are also three attractions which have an additional charge. These are a fun fair, bouncy castle and face painting.
Blair Drummond Safari Park is located about an hour’s drive from both Edinburgh and Glasgow. Take junction 10 off the M9 and follow the signposts to the park.
Dogs are not allowed in the park but kennels are available subject to a refundable deposit. The kennels are situated on the right hand side before the Ticket Office.
Wheelchairs are available for hire. There are also disabled toilets and baby changing facilities.
