Lindeth Howe Hotel

You really can't go wrong with the Lindeth Howe Hotel, especially if you're looking for tranquility, character and history.

Perched above Lake Windermere (whose view is idyllic from the third floor), Lindeth Howe can appear a little old-fashioned at first, but its charming quality, attentive staff and indoor swimming pool and sauna really made my stay a relaxing one.

Windermere Quays Boat Hire, Glebe Road, Bowness-on-Windermere, Cumbria LA23 3HE
There’s nothing quite like a relaxing day bobbing about on Lake Windermere, and thanks to Windermere Quays Boat Hire, you can be the captain of your very own ship.

Offering rowing boats and compact electric launches for hire at a very reasonable fee (you also receive detailed instruction, so don’t worry), Windermere Quays also offers a café restaurant and bar from which to view the watery scene.
My family and I enjoyed a fun hour away from the shore and managed to return the boat without so much as a sinking, capsizing or collision! Paul Bingley
