George Hotel

A fine hotel with historic connections (Oliver Cromwell's grandfather once owned the building); the George Hotel is located in the centre of Huntingdon and close to the Cromwell Museum.

The hotel itself contains a public bar, large spacious rooms and very traditional furniture. It may be a little frayed around the edges, but what would you expect from such an historic building.

UK travel information

Huntingdon is a popular market town located within the county of Huntingdonshire in East Anglia, England, known as the birthplace in 1599 of Oliver Cromwell.

The town lies on the north bank of the River Great Ouse and features a number of sites of biological importance. Nearby is England's largest meadow, Portholme Meadow, which is around 257 acres in size and features a number of rare species of grass, flowers and dragonfly, as well as being the only known habitat of the Marsh Dandelion in Britain. The meadow also acts as a huge natural reservoir, holding excess water during flood periods, which enables the river to be drained more slowly, which helps to prevent flooding of nearby towns.

Nearby is the Hamerton Zoological Park, a collection of many exotic animals including lions and leopards. The town sits by the A14, which links onto the A1, therefore is easy to access from most avenues of transport.
