The Scottish Parliament

The Scottish Parliament is located at one end of Edinburgh's Royal Mile, in front of the Holyrood Park and Salisbury Crags. The building housing the Parliament has been constructed from a mixture of steel, oak, and granite, and is said to be one of the most innovative designs in Britain.

Visitors to the Scottish Parliament can take part in a one hour tour with a Scottish Parliament guide. The tour goes from the Main Hall to the Garden Lobby and then on to the floor of the Chamber to see where the Scottish Members of Parliament meet to debate. Also included is a visit to a Committee Room and visitors are then taken further into the building to allow views of the MSPs’ office block and historic Queensberry House. There is lift access and there is a wheelchair loan service as well as portable seating available for use during the tour. 

There are also regular tours to see the architecture and the Art Collection of the Scottish Parliament. These tours also last for about one hour and must be pre-booked as numbers are limited.

There is a public crèche available for children aged from six weeks to five years. 

The Scottish Parliament building has a shop which is located in the Main Hall and sells a range of unique and traditional gifts including glass, crystal, china, and toys. Also located in the Main Hall is a cafe which serves refreshments throughout the day 

The Scottish Parliament building has been designed to be fully accessible for disabled people and there is level access or lifts throughout.
